Just from what I've read/heard, it sounds so alienating to come back home. Not only with the difference in military vs. civilian culture, but experiencing combat and getting PTSD (or sub-syndrome attributes) in an institution where seeking out help comes with a stigma really makes soldiers foreign from the rest of us. We haven't been what they've been through, and it must be quite isolating. Like the frontiersman, we thank them for their service but can't help but otherizing them. <br /><br />Also, I have a question. You mentioned the role of having a "home" in the wilderness; were these women in these homes considered the same as the frontiersman, i.e., they are now "savage"?Vincentnoreply@blogger.com
